The contents of a trip

If you eat a country`s food, you can feel the culture and emotions of the people of the country. In addition, we will experience Korean traditional culture in beautiful Gyeongju, which has a deep history and tradition, along with food and experience Korean culture in a variety of fields.

We are going to explain the Korean dining etiquette and Korean restaurant culture that Koreans took for granted by eating with foreigners

Street culture, street food, VR, convenience store, and beer culture are small daily for Koreans. It allows us to experience the daily lives of ordinary Koreans together.

In addition, we will experience Korean traditional culture in beautiful Gyeongju, which has a deep history and tradition, along with korean food and experience Korean culture in a variety of fields.

1. Korean restaurant culture & table manners

Intent: We will observe the unique charm of Korean restaurants with our own eyes and learn how to eat korean food.

1-1) Characteristics of Korean restaurants
1) Take off your shoes inside.
2) The side dishes are unlimited and free.
3) All food is served at once.

1-2) Korean table manners
1) Start the meal after an elder picks up his spoon.
2) Do not eat with a spoon and chopsticks at the same time.
3) When eating, keep your mouth shut and chew so that there is no sound.
4) Do not leave the table or put your arms or chin on the table.

2.  Korean street culture

Intent: Not only you can taste street food, but you can also see and experience the street that is common in Korean.

2-1) Street food

- Long hodduk, Injeolmi (`Hwangnam Tteokjip`)

2-2) Korean street culture

- Experience New Year`s Fate (`Gogaebi Myeongdang`)

: It shows the life of Koreans who enjoy seeing the fortune of the new year.

- Experience making a `Dalgo-na` which is a kind of snack that is made by sugar.

 

 

 

3. Korea`s traditional culture (Chomseongdae, Kyochon Village)
Intent: Experience the unique traditional play and lifestyle that exists in Korea.

 3-1) Experience traditional play
 : Experience 'Hoop, Archery` which is traditional games played by all Koreans when they were in elementary school.
 3-2) Make 'rice cake' and taste
 : Traditionally, people eat rice cakes made in harmony with each other as a way to make rice cakes.
 3-3) Experience 'Hanbok'
 : Put on Korea`s unique clothes that are internationally recognized for their beauty.

 

 

 

4. Culture of convenience store in Korea ('CU' convenience store in Hwangri-dan-gil)
Intent: Visit creative Korean convenience stores to understand different cultural differences with each country.

  4-1)The characteristics of convenience stores in Korea

  - All convenience stores in Korea are open 24 hours a day. 
  - Sale of household goods or commercial medicine (physicians, razors, etc.)
  - Can eat a lot of food inside convenience stores.

  - There is a variety of Fusion cooking method of convention store in Korea. (ex) 'Mark formal' - Fusion cooking with 'Buldak stir-fried noodles')

5. Korean Beer Culture - `Hwangnam House`
Intent: At the same time as showing the unique drinking culture of modern Korea,
you can taste the culture of Korean beer side dishes.
 

 5-1) Korean's favorite beer side dishes
 - Fried chicken ("Chicken&Beer culture")
 - Combination of dried side dishes and mayonnaise (like, dried cuttlefish)

 5-2) Korean alcohol culture
 - Means "to enjoy finishing the day."
 - When you drink with your friends, you should bump a glass with them.
 - When an opponent's glass is empty, the person next to him should fill it up again.
 - Use two hands to pour alcohol to the person who is a elder.
 - When drinking in front of elders, turn your head and empty your glass.

Introduction of guide

Hello! We are ‘YOLOSISTERS’! We will guide you a beautiful travel destination Gyeongju where various cultures of Korea coexist. YOLO stands for “You only Live Once”. Just like enjoying your once-in-a-lifetime, we prepared a trip mainly on experience to enjoy Korean culture with you. We are students studying English Literature and history & culture as majors and planned this itinerary as a good program so that you can enjoy it without REGRET!!
During our university life, we have been on a domestic trip with many foreign friends. We have been thinking about what kind of tour would be the best. Based on our experiences, we have prepared a tour to enjoy the traditional culture that only Korea has and to enjoy modern Korean culture also.
